The Roots – Rising Down (new album)

I finally got a copy of this album today in the mail, and I must say, PLEASE go cop it. The new album features fellow Okayplayer members Common, Talib Kweli and Mos Def, along with Saigon, Styles P and Chrisette Michele.

On another note, I sometimes wonder why Def Jam markets these guys mainly to the Hip Hop consumers, when they should be exposing them more to the “alternative/top 40″ music demographic. Right? I’ve always thought these guys had the potential to crossover between different genres like Outkast, Gnarls Barkley, etc.

Anyway, check out some of the key joints!
